Toni Rackard is an anointed minstrel for the kingdom of God who exudes zeal and passion while ministering unto the Lord in song. As a chosen vessel, she uses her music to set an atmosphere that ushers others into worship. She is tenaciously faithful in her relationship with God and the songs she sings reflect her spiritual commitment. One scripture that Toni refers to for encouragement is Isaiah 30:20: Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. Your own ears will hear him. Toni’s desire to touch the heavens with her music sets this beautiful woman of God apart. An anointed psalmist, Toni is devoted to serve God’s people by fulfilling her purpose and calling to the body of Christ. She believes that her steps are truly ordered by the Lord as Isaiah 30:21 confirms, Right behind you a voice will say, ‘This is the way you should go,’ whether to the right or to the left.Toni’s gift of singing was evident at an early age. By grade school, she was forming girl groups with her young friends. The groups did not flourish, yet Toni believed in her heart that she was destined to sing. In the beginning, Toni did not know whether she would sing R&B or Christian music. As her will to follow God grew stronger, however, so did Toni’s apprehension to become a psalmist. She did not think she had the skills or attributes to be a unique singer. Yet, in the midst of her doubt and fears, God reminded her while in prayer: My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. (II Corinthians 12:9) Overcoming challenges further steered Toni to pursue God’s vision. One pivotal experience occurred on a Sunday morning. Toni’s spirit was burdened with life’s hardships, and she sought counsel from her spiritual father, Pastor Andre V. Mitchell. Pastor Mitchell’s advice was clear and concise: “Get over it,” he told her. “It’s only the beginning, not the end.” Toni’s spirit was quickened, and she cried out to God in prayer, surrendering everything to Him. That same morning, as Toni led the praise and worship team, God allowed her to have an out-of-body experience. At that moment, she recalls, “The Lord revealed to me how to minister each song with passion and life-changing authority.” From that experience, Toni continues to declare unto the Lord, as stated in Psalm 86:11: Teach me thy way Oh Lord; I will walk in thy truth: Unite my heart to fear thy name.Toni Rackard was born to worship. She is consumed with the zeal of God, passionate to see God’s face and continually strives to glorify Him by ministering to His people in song. She currently lives in Tampa, Florida, with her husband, Derrick. She is the praise and worship leader at Jesus People Family Worship Center and is a graduate of the University of South Florida, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management Information Systems.
